Social actions are one of the key factors to bring change. The small steps and consistent steps were taken towards addressing the societal issues by introducing new ideas, solutions and processes for making change sustainable and future better. Well planned social actions help young people develop social awareness, ownership, sense of belonging and strengthens the bonds of young people within their communities. Engagement of youth in the social action interventions naturally helps them to develop communication skills, organising campaigns, events, public speaking and broaden their world view and network which laterally prepares them for the world of work.

Mu Hero campaign will be launched across Odisha to identify local heroes or “change agents” who have set the benchmark for the community and who motivate and inspire others. Young girls and boys who have done exemplary work will be recognized and felicitated by the Government. The Philosophy behind this campaign I based on the Vedic doctrine of “Tat Tvam Asi” (thou art that), which in essence celebrates the magnificence of the human being or the limitless capability of the individual.
Efforts will be taken for paper/digital documentation of the innovative models of youth leadership, volunteerism and community engagement by the BYVs across the state and good practices will be documented at regular intervals and uploaded on the website and social media to encourage youth to take such initiatives. E-newsletter covering such case studies will be published in English and Odia, and will be widely circulated among participatory colleges and government officials as well as uploaded on the website. Small Advertisements of the theme specific campaigns, jingles, case studies, bytes from local heroes etc. will be published in electronic and print media, which will help in creating awareness among youth and also be an inspiration to them.
ART & CULTURE
Culture is a word which is used so commonly that it goes unacknowledged in our day to day life. But interestingly it rules almost every aspect of our life. We generally box it to music, literature, arts, architecture, language or clothing. In a way it is correct but if we look it more broadly culture is what we think, do and feel and learn from the people around us. Culture is learnt, shared and taught. It is partial to limit it down to few categories. Culture is symbolic, it is not something outside of us rather we exist within a culture. It is forgotten, learnt and a process which keeps on evolving.
Annual Youth Convention will be organized at district, regional and state level to promote dialogue and discussions among youth volunteers, share experiences, showcase success stories of young people as change makers, impact of the BYV movement in bringing about a positive developmental change in the lives of the youth and to recognize and encourage BYV for the innovative social actions taken at their locality.
